Thailand decriminalized marijuana in June 2022, giving rise to a domestic industry that has recently been challenged by competition and oversupply. There are thousands of registered dispensaries in the country, and cannabis is prescribed at hundreds of traditional medicine clinics. I made sweet tea and drank it over an enormous amount of ice, on the stoop, marveling at how sometimes sweet tea is the best tea, even if you usually drink tea straight, no sugar, with not even a lemon to counter the tannins. Sweet tea is reckless tea, unhealthy tea, a liquid candy bar, not something to drink every day. But it has its place, and I made enough of it so I could use the leftovers as a brine for Millie Peartree’s luscious roast chicken (above). Neanderthals may not have honored their dead with bouquets of flowers, but the inhabitants of Shanidar Cave were likely an empathetic species, research suggests. CNN —Barbra Streisand is addressing a divisive comment she wrote under a photo that actor Melissa McCarthy posted on her Instagram page on Monday. In the comment, Streisand asked McCarthy if she took Ozempic – a popular weight loss medication, among its other functions – spurring backlash online. “Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album,” she wrote. I forgot the world is reading!”CNN has reached out to representatives for McCarthy and Streisand for comment. Ozempic is a brand name for the generic drug semaglutide, and is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to treat diabetes.
